Sony’s Xperia 10 budget smartphones have 21:9 aspect ratio displays, which means you get a bigger screen in a smaller phone. But sluggish performance and questionable design choices make them tough to recommend.

The Sony Xperia 10 is a mid-range phone that brings Sony’s flagship style and unique 21:9 aspect ratio to a phone that’s a third of the price of its upcoming Xperia 1. It’s not the best phone you can buy for this price by any means, but if you like to watch movies and TV shows on your commute it may be perfect for you.

While we like the form factor and design of the Xperia 10 unfortunately it just doesn’t run well. Sure, it’s mid-range, but there are phones that cost less that perform a lot better.

Sony has taken a step in the right direction with its new Xperia series. The Xperia 10 is a quirky and decent midrange smartphone, but its outdated SoC makes it currently too expensive in our opinion.

In many ways the Xperia 10 is an excellent mid-range smartphone. It features a robust, comfortable to hold design, nicely clean Android software and an excellent screen, considering its price. But its use of old hardware stops it from being the Moto G-killer we'd hoped for and means it's woefully under powered by today's standards.
