The OnePlus Nord N30 is a solid budget device with excellent performance from a Snapdragon 695 chipset and 8GB of RAM, plus a 5,000mAh battery that goes all day. But it’s not quite a slam dunk.

Overall, it's hard to outright recommend Motorola's Moto G53 as the only things it really has going for it is a long-lasting battery and an incredibly low price. There are too many other shortcomings in virtually all other areas to make this a truly standout device. This becomes more apparent when you consider its competition, such as the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, which gives you a full HD display, a beefier processor and an equally long-lasting battery for just a little more cash.

The Moto G31 improves in several areas on the G30, including a better screen resolution AMOLED panel, that along with the clean software experience makes this a great affordable phone. The cameras are still so-so at best, though, but while rivals such as Realme and Redmi might read better on paper, you can't shake Motorola for the user experience on offer.

Skip the Galaxy A20 if you need a more dependable phone that doesn't suffer from performance lags. This device's best feature is a long-lasting battery, and the equally priced Moto G7 Power surpasses that.

The LG G8 pushes features like Hand ID to unlock your phone and mid-air gestures to control things like volume. Neither worked well for us after extensive testing, but beyond these frustrating gimmicks, we did discovered two likable tech firsts: a hole-less top speaker with innovative vibration sound conduction, and video portrait mode. None of these are reasons to overpay for this otherwise good but not great phone.

The Sony Xperia X10 Plus delivers solid performance for a midrange phone, but there are stronger options available that offer greater value.
